MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho Football wrapped up the first week of spring practices under Coach
Jason Eck and staff Saturday and another week of drills is on the way, beginning Tuesday.
The Vandals' first two practices were helmets only with players participating in numerous drills and before finishing off the day with some 7-on-7 action. On Saturday, the team practiced in full pads, and the intensity level pick up a notch.
"I thought it was a nice first week of practice," Eck said. "I thought we had a physical football practice (Saturday). It was a good back and forth action with lots of effort and energy."
Saturday, saw lots of action as the Vandals spent a lot of time implementing the run game in the full-team drills. Players up and down the roster saw action as the coaching staff continues to evaluate every position.
"The biggest thing is we're trying to evaluate guys and seeing where guys should be," Eck said. "Trying to evaluate all the talent we have on the rosters to see what guys have the skill set athletically to make blocks in space to make tackles in space. We're not as much focused on scheme in the spring as much as trying to evaluate guys to put ourselves in position to win games in the fall."
Week two of spring practice resumes Tuesday. Saturday, the Vandals will close week two of spring drills with a scrimmage during the final 60 minutes of practice. Spring ball culminates in the annual spring game on April 30 in Eagle, Idaho.
