Men's Tennis Finishes 8th in Mountain Region

Sophomore Francisco Bascon ranked No. 11 in singles

MOSCOW, Idaho – The ITA Collegiate Tennis Division I Men's Regional Rankings were released this week for the 2022 spring season, as the Idaho men's tennis team finished eighth in the Mountain region. The Big Sky champions defeated Montana State to earn the program's 14th conference tournament title and earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament. 

Sophomore Francisco Bascon was also recognized for his dominance at court one for Idaho, finishing No. 11 in the region. He held a 14-3 dual record, including a 12-3 mark at the No. 1 position. Bascon received First Team All-Big Sky recognition for his second consecutive season.  

The Idaho men won nine out of its last 10 matches to finish the season 13-11 (7-1 BSC). The Vandals earned the No. 1 seed at the Big Sky Tournament and delivered a 4-1 win over Montana, and a 4-3 victory against Montana State to take home its first conference tournament championship since 2018.
