Women’s Tennis Signs Three Newcomers for 2022-23 Season

Two transfers and one incoming freshman set to join the program for the 2022-23 season.

MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho women's tennis team will welcome three newcomers for the 2022-23 season, as head coach Sanne Louwers announced the signing of Annabel Davis, Valentina Rodas and Selin Sepken. 

"We are excited for Annabel, Valentina and Selin to join the Vandal family in the fall," Louwers said. "They bring experience, a great work ethic and talent that we will need to compete for championships."

Annabel Davis | 5-11 | Wheathampstead, England | Northern Arizona University

Davis, a transfer from Northern Arizona University joins the Vandals after a successful freshman campaign in Flagstaff. An All-Big Sky First Team doubles recipient in 2022, Davis held a 7-9 overall record, including a 5-3 mark at court one and a 4-1 conference record. She went 2-4 in singles, recording a 2-2 mark at No. 6 with wins over San Francisco State and Portland State.  

Additionally, Davis was a four-year captain at Queenswood School in England. Davis's impressive prep career featured wins at the UK National Schools Championships and British Junior National 18U Championship in 2018. In 2019, she went on to receive the Hertfordshire Outstanding Performance Award at the UK County Cup. 

 

Valentina Rodas Carcamo | 5-6 | Medellin, Colombia | Madrid Country School

Rodas, a Medellin, Colombia native, makes the trek north to compete for Idaho this fall as an incoming freshman. According to the International Tennis Federation, Rodas appeared as high as 659 in the Junior Rankings. She held a 18-9 overall record in singles and 10-9 mark in doubles on the junior circuit. 



Selin Sepken | 5-8 | Istanbul, Turkey | Long Island University

Sepken, a transfer from Long Island University makes the move to Moscow after spending one season at Long Island University under head coach Jan Griga. She posted a 1-0 record in doubles through the 2021-22 season. In addition to her time on the court, Sepken received NEC Spring Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll honors for her work in the classroom.
