Idaho enters its matchup against Boise State with a 1-1 record after starting the season with a 6-1 victory over Seattle U in its season opener and falling on the road to Gonzaga, 6-1.

Two-time All-Big Sky performer Francisco Bascon headlines a group that returns every player from the 2022 Big Sky Championship team. The Vandals added one newcomer and welcomed back eight returnees to the roster - Taiyo Kurata (Freshman, Hiroshima, Japan), Alex Asenov (Junior, British Columbia, Canada), Bruno Casino (Senior, Santander, Spain), Mario Duron (Junior, VCU), Francisco Gay (Sophomore, Esperanza, Argentina), Matteo Masala (Junior, Olbia, Italy), Vivek Ramesh (Junior, Cary, North Carolina) and Alejandro Salvador (Junior, Valencia, Spain).

Bascon starts the season 2-0 in singles play at No. 1 after earning a straight-set win over Seattle U's Filip Stipic and a three-set victory against Sasha Trkulja of Gonzaga.

Casino, Kurata and Masala all started off the season with a 1-1 mark in singles action.

After qualifying for the ITA National Championships in doubles during the fall, Bascon and Masala plan to carry over its success to spring play as a tandem. They begin the season with a 1-0 record at No.1 after winning over Seattle U (6-4).
