MOSCOW, Idaho -- Idaho men's tennis travels to Missoula to face Montana on Friday, April 7 at 1 p.m. PT.
The Vandals (9-7) look to rebound from a 5-2 loss to Northern Arizona last week and get back on track as they near the Big Sky Conference Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona (Apr. 27-30). Idaho is 2-1 in Big Sky play with wins over Eastern Washington (6-1) and Idaho State (4-3).
Francisco Bascon holds the most singles wins on court one in the Big Sky with a 13-3 overall record. The Cordoba, Spain native won his eighth match in a row after defeating Northern Arizona's Maikel De Boes in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3.
Bruno Casino and
Mario Duron have also posted success in singles action this season, as Casino owns the second most wins with a 9-7 mark and Duron sits at 8-5.
Francisco Gay and
Taiyo Kurata lead the team in doubles with a 9-5 mark and a current six-match win streak at the No. 2 position. Bascon and
Matteo Masala own an 8-5 record and are winners of four of their last five on court one.
Series History
The Vandals are 22-9 against the Grizzlies since 1995. Idaho earned a pair of victories versus Montana last year, winning at home 5-2 and following it up with a 4-1 win in the semifinals at the Big Sky Conference Tournament.
Scouting the Grizzlies
Montana holds a 9-8 record and a 1-3 mark in conference action. The Grizzlies most recently fell on the road last week to Weber State (5-2) and Idaho State (5-2). Sam Baldwin leads the team with a 9-7 overall singles record while Gustav Theilgaard adds a 7-4 mark on court one.
