MOSCOW, Idaho – University of Idaho student-athletes earned a cumulative 3.44 GPA for the spring 2023 semester, with 103 student-athletes earning a perfect 4.0, 259 student-athletes earned above a 3.0 GPA and 145 student-athletes were named to the Dean's List. It is the best departmental regular semester GPA since the department started tracking the metric.
Vandal volleyball led the way with a 3.77 team GPA and is one of three teams with their highest ever team GPAs. Swimming and Diving earned a program record 3.72 GPA and Vandal football recorded a 3.30 team GPA, far above the previous best of 3.04.
Women's cross country recorded a team GPA of 3.64, women's track and field notched a 3.61 and women's basketball had a 3.6 team GPA. Vandal men's golf had the highest GPA for a men's team at 3.54.
Thirteen Vandal teams recorded a GPA of 3.25 or higher and seven earned 3.5 team semester GPAs or higher.
"As Athletic Director, the one thing I never need to worry about at Idaho is the academic success of our student-athletes," Athletic Director Terry Gawlik said. "I am continually amazed that we keep breaking our own records semester after semester. I credit the young people we recruit to this program and campus and every single employee that has a part in developing super successful Vandals on and off the court."
Fall classes begin on Monday, August 21.
