MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho's women's swimming and diving team will kick off their 2024-25 season at home this weekend against the College of Idaho on Saturday, October 5, at 3 p.m. PT, as part of Idaho Homecoming Week.
ABOUT IDAHO
Idaho is led by five seniors and a strong group of returning sophomores. Overall, Idaho returns 23 from last year's team while welcoming 14 newcomers to the Palouse. The Vandals added 11 swimmers and two divers, representing 10 different states - Oregon (3), Arizona (2), California, Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Michigan, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania. The Vandals also added a standout senior transfer from St. Bonaventure,
Silvana Cabrera.
Idaho welcomed new assistant coach
Elizabeth Levy to the team. Levy was the men's and women's assistant coach at Case Western Reserve University for two seasons, where she helped lead the Spartans to a historic run in the 2023-24 season. 11 swimmers were awarded All-American honors while the women's team earned a top 5 finish at the UAA Championships.
The Idaho 2024-25 diving squad is led by new head coach
Wei Wei (Way-Way). Wei, a former Chinese National Diving Team member, has spent the majority of her coaching career at the Los Angeles Diving Club and UCLA. During her three-year stop as an assistant coach at UCLA (2018-21), Wei helped lead the Bruins to their first-ever NCAA 3-meter Springboard Championship.
SCOUTING COLLEGE OF IDAHO
The Yotes open their 2024-25 season in Moscow on Saturday. In the 2023-24 season, the College of Idaho placed 22nd at the NAIA Swim and Dive Championships. The Yotes are now under the direction of first-year head coach Brian Pearson. College of Idaho is led by diver Madelyn Mann, who took sixth at the 2024 NAIA Diving Championships and earned All-American honors.
LAST TIME OUT
The Vandals open the season in Moscow after placing sixth at the WAC Championships in Pharr, Texas.
Ella Haskins brought home two silver medals after breaking two school records in the 50-yard freestyle (22.82) and the 100-yard freestyle(49.78).
Freshman
Ginger Kiefer posted a third-place podium finish while breaking a 10-year-old school record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:17.78.
The relay team of
Sydney Heasman,
Madelynn Butler,
Grace Ruble, and Haskins shattered two school records at the WAC Championships. The quartet set school records in the 200-freestyle relay (1:32.16) and the 400-freestyle relay (3:21.13) to finish in third place.

The Vandals will return to the UI Swim Center next weekend to open conference play against Northern Colorado on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. PST.
