PHARR, Texas – Idaho swim and dive posted two podium finishes on the final day of the WAC Championships, as
Ella Haskins set a school record in the 100 free along with the 400 free relay team earning the Vandals' fourth podium finish of the week.
Idaho secured sixth place in the final team standings, while Northern Arizona took home their 11th straight WAC title.
Haskins broke her own school record in the 100 free, posting a time of 49.73 in the prelims before going on to earn a silver medal in the finals with a mark of 49.78. She now holds the top 3 marks in the event in school history after posting a 49.90 in the final regular season meet.
The 400 free relay team of
Sydney Heasman,
Madelynn Butler,
Grace Ruble and Haskins posted a top school mark of 3:21.13 to finish with a bronze medal and break a 10-year-old record dating back to Feb. 26, 2014 (3:22.61).
Idaho received other strong performances from
Ginger Kiefer, Butler and Heasman in their respective events.
Kiefer led the Vandals in the 200 back with the second-fastest preliminary round time of 1:59.08. She bested her time in the finals with a 1:58.89 to finish fifth and move into the top 3 all-time in the Idaho record book.
Heasman and Butler both finished top 8 in the A Final to move on, posting a 50.89 and 51.46, respectively. Butler ultimately finished seventh at 50.99 while Heasman scored eighth in 51.03.
In the final diving event of the week,
Emily Mack shined for the Vandals in the platform dive. She posted the sixth-best score of 222.00 in the prelims before finishing eighth with a 213.90 in the finals.
