GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Yvonne Vinceri finished tied for fifth and the Vandal women finished tied for third, the highest finish of any Big Sky team and ahead of Boise State and Washington State, at the Montana State Bobcat Desert Classic at the Golf Club of the Estrella in Goodyear.
 
The Vandals had three different individual leaders on the three rounds. Freshman Emma Kang came out firing with a first-round 69 before finishing tied for 13th with a three-round score of 216. Vinceri had her low round in the second with a 69 over her own, she followed up with an even-par 72 in round three to finish tied for fifth.
 
Jenna Bruggeman struggled in her first round but battled back with an even-par 72 in the second round and a team-leading two-under 70 in round three to help Idaho climb the leaderboard from fifth to third overall. She finished tied for 20th with a three-round score of 218.
 
"I am very proud of the team's collective effort this week in a strong field," head coach Stephanie Young said. "They came out focused and ready to compete each round. It was also awesome to see a different Vandal lead us each day. Yvonne had an outstanding showing finishing fifth overall, but it was great to see three players in the top 20."
 
Zoe Newell finished with a three-round score of 225 to tie for 56th-place, Boram Jung, playing as an individual, finished tied for 60th at 226 and Emma Heyman tied for 63rd with a three-round score of 227.
 
The showing was one of the best performances of the year against a tough field. The second-round score of 286 tied the best team round of the year and the third-place finish is the third top-3 finish of the season along with the team title at the Eagle Invitational and the second-place finish at the BGSU Women's Intercollegiate.
 
The tournament concluded the regular season for the Vandals who will now compete at the Big Sky Championship at the Wigwam Golf Club on April 15-17 at Litchfield Park, Arizona.
