Men’s Tennis Adds Three for 2024-25 Season

MOSCOW, Idaho – University of Idaho men's tennis head coach Raleigh Grossbaum announced the addition of three players to the 2024-25 roster on Thursday.

The Vandals landed standout Alabama A&M transfer Chetanna Amadike and freshmen newcomers Noe De Col and Gabriel Moroder.

"It's always tough losing four line-up seniors, but I'm extremely excited about these three additions and what they each bring to our program," Grossbaum said. "I believe that they will help set a very high standard for this program by bringing a lot of success on the court, in the classroom, and in the community."

Chetanna Amadike
Amadike has already left his mark on the collegiate stage after spending two seasons at Alabama A&M.

The Calgary, Canada native was an All-SWAC First Team performer and SWAC Freshman of the Year in his brief stint in Huntsville. He was selected as a first-team honoree at the number two spot after achieving perfect conference records, with a 3-0 singles record and a 4-0 doubles record. Amadike finished out the 2023-24 campaign 7-6 in doubles and 4-10 in singles.

Apart from being named the top newcomer in the SWAC in 2022-23, Amadike finished with a 7-4 singles record, 4-4 doubles mark, and a combined 5-1 conference tally.

"As a transfer student, Chenny brings two great years of experience competing at a high level in a D1 lineup," Grossbaum stated. "He comes extremely highly recommended by numerous college coaches that worked with him and competed against him. His work ethic and contributions as a teammate and person were highlighted in every interaction with him and about him. In addition to his high tennis goals and hunger to become his best self, he left a lasting impression on those whose paths he's crossed already in college tennis. I see him having incredible contributions to our tennis program, athletic department, and the Moscow community."

Noe De Col
A native of Saint-Aubin, Switzerland, De Col begins his collegiate career at Idaho this fall. He is a Laurel Springs High School graduate with plans to study finance.

The freshman newcomer most recently posted a doubles championship earlier in the spring, winning the MKTA Tour Season End tournament in Bern, Switzerland.

"Noe's ambition and passion for tennis was clear from the very first call," Grossbaum expressed. "He is hungry to give his all and push as far as he can go in the tennis world. He has been extremely well taught and has a superb base of technical skills that, combined with his work ethic, will help him develop into an outstanding tennis player. The future is bright for Noe, and I believe he will be a great addition to our Vandal Family and the Idaho community."

Gabriel Moroder
Moroder, a native Ortisei, Italy is set to join the Vandals this fall with plans to study Psychology.

His prep career overseas includes a Naturns Open Tournament championship earlier this spring and two final 8 Master Tournament titles in South Tyrol, Italy at the 14U and 16U levels.

Moroder's highest singles UTR during his prep career was 11.4.

"I couldn't be more excited about adding Gabriel to our family," Grossbaum said. "He is relentless in his pursuit of growth and development on and off the court. Since signing, he has already invested himself heavily in technical development, physical development with gym sessions and conditioning, as well as mental development by adding a sports psychologist and reading numerous books. I believe his mentality is contagious, brings out the best of himself, and will bring out the best of his teammates and those around him. I look forward to seeing his journey and impact as a Vandal and beyond!"
