MOSCOW, Idaho - Idaho swim and dive are set to compete in the highly anticipated Western Athletic Conference Championship, February 26th through March 1st in Houston, Texas. The Vandals will look to make a splash at the championships starting Wednesday in the CRWC Natatorium.
The conference will span over four days with preliminary rounds starting in the morning and final rounds entering the evening. The prelims start at 10:30 a.m. each day and finals kick off around 6:00 p.m. Click HERE for the full competition schedule.
The Vandals have demonstrated significant progress this season, with several athletes achieving personal bests. Notably, Ginger Kiefer is ranked No. 6 in the WAC's top 10 with a time of 1:56.43 in the 200-yard backstroke. Silvana Cabrera has consistently recorded a time of around two minutes in the 200-yard butterfly. Cabrera (No. 16) and two other Idaho swimmers, Ella Haskins (No. 21) and Madelynn Butler (No. 27), are also among the WAC's top 30 competitors.
Idaho has celebrated key victories against the University of Northern Colorado and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, collectively securing over 100 podium finishes throughout the season. The team's success against the Bears and Vaqueros was a true team effort, highlighted by the 200-yard relay team, which included Haskins, Katy Foley, Grace Ruble, and Rylie Moxham.
Building on a strong season, the Vandals aim to improve upon their sixth place finished from last season. The WAC Championship will present essential opportunities for the Vandals to achieve new personal bests and set program records.
This weekend will serve as the final championship for the Vandals in the Western Athletic Conference, as Idaho will join the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation starting in the 2025-26 season.
