Vandals Trounce Wildcats, Advance to Second Round of Conference Bracket

Idaho Weathers Early Turbulence, Earns 4-2 Victory Over Weber State to Advance to Next Round vs. Northern Arizona

MOSCOW, Idaho - Idaho men's tennis missed the Big Sky Championships last year. This year, they left no doubt that they belong with the best in the league.

Securing the #4 seed over #5 Weber State in the last day of the regular season earned the Vandals a rematch with the Wildcats in the first round of the tournament. The black and gold weathered some early turbulence in the doubles matches to come out on top, 4-2.

Weber State came out swinging in the doubles, winning the first two matches 6-2 each, while the third went unfinished to prepare for singles. Senior Francisco Gay and freshman Gabriel Moroder brought some early momentum swings for the Vandals, winning both of their singles matches at #1 and #3, respectively, 6-2, 6-3.

The points continued to pile on for Idaho, as Chetanna Amadike and Sebastian Medica each came in clutch in their third set, adding on two more singles points to clinch the match for the Vandals. After falling in the doubles, they weathered the storm and maintained their composure to secure the tournament win.
