MOSCOW, Idaho– Idaho launched its conference campaign on Friday against Montana State in the P1FCU Kibbie Dome and traveled to Lewis-Clark State on Saturday. The Vandals beat the Bobcats 5-2 and the Warriors 7-0.
The Vandals secured the doubles point against the Bobcats with wins on court one and court three. On court three, Valentina Rodas and Chenyue Xu took their match with ease, defeating their opponents, 6-2. On court one, powerhouse duo Jessica Matthews and Naomi Schraeder battled through every point and were inevitably able to snatch the win, 7-5.
The Black and Gold continued their success into singles play with close matches across the lineup. The biggest win of the day was by Xu, who competed for her first time on court one for the Vandals. The first two sets scored 6-4 with one set to each team. In the final set Xu was down 5-4 but came back to win the tiebreak 7-6.

On Saturday,Idaho continued its success with its match up against Lewis-Clark State. The Vandals zipped through doubles play with wins on every court. Hanna Koprowska and Ida Johansson on court one, along with Mariam Hatem and Soha Singh on court three, beat the Warriors 6-1. On court two Valentina Rodas and Xu defeated their opponents 6-0.
In singles competition, the Vandals had a clean sweep over the Warriors on all courts to close out the weekend. Xu won her second match on court one for the Vandals in a 6-3, 6-2 victory. All matches except for Schraeders were finished in two sets. Schraeder's three set match resulted in a 12-10 tiebreak.
