MOSCOW, Idaho - On Thursday, the Big Sky Conference announced its All-Academic honors for the 2025 fall semester, and 87 Idaho student athletes from various sports were selected to the list.
The awards highlight athletes who star on their playing field as well as in the classroom among the sports that compete in the fall. Like its fellow leaguemates, Idaho had student-athletes from football, soccer, volleyball, and cross country earn a nod among the conference's academic standouts.
To be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have participated in at least half of the team's competitions, achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at the conclusion of the most recently completed term, AND completed at least one academic term at his/her current Big Sky institution. For Cross Country student-athletes, they must have participated in at least half of the team's competitions or competed at the Conference Championship.
Idaho's 87 selections to the All-Academic team are the second most in the Big Sky behind only Weber State. Vandal Soccer's 26 individual honors are far and away the most of any soccer program in the league as UI is the only team to have 20+ in that sport. Thirteen members, or the majority of the roster, of the Vandal Volleyball program received nominations from the conference, and 33 football student-athletes earned the nod.
"Congratulations to the 760-plus individuals that make up our 2025 Fall All-Academic Team," Big Sky Commissioner Tom Wistrcill said. "Student-athletes are met with so many distractions in the current state of college athletics, so seeing this group buckle down and earn this recognition is truly special and is also a testament to our campus communities that the right priorities are still in place."
Earlier in the semester, Idaho Athletics reported another strong performance in the classroom. Each program recorded at least a 3.13 team GPA or higher. Volleyball led the way with a cumulative mark of 3.75, while men's basketball set another program record with a 3.43.
