UI men's tennis wins at home

MOSCOW, Idaho - In their only home outdoor match of the season, the University of Idaho men's tennis team defeated local rival LCSC, 5-2.

"We're very happy with our overall performance," tennis coach Katrina Perlman said. "LC is always a tough school. Coming into every match, we have to fight for every ball, which what we had to do today."

UI took the doubles point by winning at the No. 1 and 2 spots, both finishing with close scores. Brad Lum-Tucker and Chris Faulman won at No. 1, defeating Borja Molas and Ari Zaslow, 8-6. For No. 2, Seth Banks and Fabian Dummett held off Dimitri Verabyou and Guilherme Martins, 9-7.

For singles, UI took wins from the top and bottom of the No. 1, 2, 5 and 6 spots. At the No. 6 spot, James Cromwell won in a three-set match against Phil McKeague, 3-6, 6-2, 7-5.

Friday's meeting with LCSC marked the third time UI has played them, with all three matches ending with Vandal wins.

Next up, the Vandals return to Boise, April 16-17.
