Idaho Tennis Starts Strong In Seattle

SEATTLE, Wash. - The University of Idaho of men's tennis team got off to a good start at PNW Intercollegiates.

Idaho doubles continues to impress this fall as all three teams advanced to the round of 16. Against some of the best competition in the Northwest, the Vandals fared well in singles play too.

"The men had a very strong first day; all doubles teams are still in the main draw and in singles Abid, Adrian, Alan, and Lachlan are still in their main draws," Idaho Director of Tennis Jeff Beaman said.

Alex Joitiou put in a gutsy performance on Friday, overcoming injury to advance in doubles with partner Stanislav Glukhov and having playing in two hard fought singles matches.

"Alex fought well today playing on a sprained ankle, winning a tough 3 set first round match and following up with another down to the wire 3 setter against Oregon's 2 player," Beaman said.

Idaho continues at the PNW Intercollegiates in Seattle on Saturday.
