Two former University of Idaho football players have signed with NFL teams. T.J. Conley, an All-American punter for the Vandals from 2005-08, signed with the Cleveland Browns, while defensive end Benson Mayowa, who finished his eligibility last fall, made the most of Seattle's mini camp and signed with the Seahawks.
Conley initially signed with the New York Jets in 2009. He was the Jets' punter during 2011 and averaged 42.7 yards on 92 punts during 16 games.
Mayowa, who had three sacks during the 2012 season, participated in a Seahawks' mini-camp last weekend and caught the eye of coach Pete Carroll.
“He did a nice job,” Carroll said in an interview with the Seattle Times. “He was a guy that really jumped out. He was rushing the passer and looked pretty fast on the edge.”
