Idaho women's swimming and diving will travel to Northern Colorado Saturday, for a conference dual meet. The first event will begin at 2 p.m. MT Saturday, at the Butler-Hancock Swimming Pool.
Â
ABOUT THE VANDALS: The Vandals are looking for their first win over a Western Athletic Conference opponent of the season. Senior
Leah Fisk is riding to win her fourth straight dual-meet win in the 200 freestyle.
Â
ABOUT THE BEARS: Northern Colorado is 5-2 on the year in dual meets, including a 3-1 mark against WAC opponents. The Bears suffered their first conference loss last weekend in their return from winter training, a 172-117 defeat at the hands of Northern Arizona. UNC's seniors will be recognized before Saturday's meet, the team's home finale.
Â
OWNING THE FREESTYLE: Senior
Leah Fisk is riding a hot streak in the 200-yard freestyle, winning the event at Idaho's last three dual meets. Fisk is once again a favorite. The defending WAC champion in the 200 freestyle, Fisk's season-best time of 1:50.95 is more than a quarter second ahead of UNC freshman Rose Saya.
 Â
ACADEMICS: The Vandals wrapped up the fall semester with a 3.66 team grade-point average, the best single-semester mark since the program was reinstated in 2004. The team featured 27 student-athletes with a 3.0 or higher, including nine with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Â
Â
UP NEXT: The Vandals will host a tri-dual Jan. 26, against Grand Canyon University and Simon Fraser University (B.C.), in Idaho's home finale. The Vandals will close the regular season with a split squad effort the following weekend. The swimmers will head to Oregon State and the divers will get an opportunity to train and compete platform at the Northern Arizona Spring Invitational.
