HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – Idaho men's golf closed out play at the Ron Moore Invitational on Sunday, with the freshman,
Jackson Jacob, continuing his climb up the leaderboard. Overall the team placed eighth.

"Today we were right in the mix with all the other teams, so we definitely got better over the three days," said head coach
David Nuhn. "Overall the result wasn't necessarily what we wanted as far as our placement on the leaderboard, however I preached early on to this young group that they really need to commit to the process of improvement."
Â
Jacob continued his breakout performance on Sunday and finished 11
th at even par. He closed out the tournament with a 1-under 70 in the third round.
Â
"
Jackson Jacob played great this tournament," Nuhn said. "That's an awesome result out of a freshman in only his second event. I would say for a freshman to come in and lead the team and shoot some really solid scores speaks to his abilities for us moving forward."
Â
Colt Sherrell went 2-under on the final day and finished at 2-over for the tournament.Â
Joseph Glenn had his best day of the weekend with a 2-over 73. Glenn finished in 41
st overall.
Â
Joel Veenstra was right behind in 42
nd. He shot a 5-over 76 on Sunday.
Â
"And I felt like this tournament, I just got really excited with their desire to go out and practice after every round and really kind of learn from all of the mistakes they made throughout the round and improve on that," said Nuhn. "It's exciting to see them want to get better and want to grow. I think that showed, with each day and the gradual improvement."
