Box Score SALT LAKE CITY, Utah—Idaho men's tennis (0-1) fell to Utah (2-0) to open the 2020 season 7-0 on the road.
 
Esteban Santibanez and Francisco Bascon-Perez won the only match of the contest for the Vandals by beating Randy Cory and Russell Benkaim 6-3 in the first doubles match. However, it wasn't enough to win the doubles point as Utah won the remaining two doubles matches.
Guilherme Scarpelli and Althaf Dhaifullah came up just short to Franco Capalbo and Wally Thayne, 7-6.
"The first match of the year is always an interesting test. We need to do a little better starting off in the singles matches," said Head Coach Daniel Hangstefer. "I thought overall we competed well. Utah is a good team, congrats to them on the win!"
