Swim and Dive Adds Seven

MOSCOW - The University of Idaho swimming and diving team has added seven new faces to its roster for the 2022-23 season, as announced by head coach Mark Sowa.
 
Six different states are represented by the seven newcomers. The class includes two swimmers from Boise, and one of each from Wisconsin, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, and Illinois. 
 
Cadence Gabel comes to Moscow from Cedarburg High School in Cedarburg WI. and will help fill the 100 and 200 breaststroke events for the Vandals. Gabel competes for the Ozaukee Aquatics club team.
 
Amelia Perkins, a Windsor, Colo. native joins the Vandals after swimming at Windsor High School. Perkins was a part of the Loveland Swim Club and plans to represent Idaho in the 100 and 200 breast events. 
 
Bethany Rahn (Sarasota, FL/Riverview HS) led the Riverview Rams to a second-place finish at the state championships in 2020 while also being selected as a two-time all-conference member in her three years of the high school experience. Rahn represented the Sarasota Sharks club team, where she competed in the 100, 200 fly, and 200 and 500 freestyle events. 
 
Grace Ruble comes to Idaho from Indianapolis, IN where she competed for the Fishers Area Swim Team. Ruble is the 21st rated swimmer in the state of Indiana, according to Swim Cloud. She will help fill the 100 and 200 breaststroke events when she joins the Vandals in the fall. 
 
Aubrey Bureau will stay in state and join the Vandals after having a stellar career at Boise High School. Most recently, Bureau competed at the 5A state championships where she earned third place (100 fly) and fourth place (100 back). A top-5 recruit in the state of Idaho, Bureau will look to add depth in the 100, 200 fly, and 100 backstroke events for Idaho. 
 
Ell Bureau joins her sister Aubrey after having a successful high school career in Boise. This fall, Bureau finished third in the 200 freestyle and fourth in the 100 freestyle at the 5A state championships. Bureau is also rated a top-5 recruit in the state of Idaho. 
 
Abby Rosenthal will join the Vandals after competing at Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn, IL. Rosenthal will bring great experience in multiple events, including the 200 backstroke, 50, and 100 freestyle.
