MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho Vandals are set for their first exhibition game of the 2021 season on Tuesday afternoon. The Vandals will play at Seattle University, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
Unfortunately, the match will not be streamed or have live stats available. A recap will come following the conclusion of the game on GoVandals.com. Fans will be allowed, free of admission. Per Seattle University guidelines, face coverings are required for unvaccinated persons at all times.
SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS: Seattle U won the Spring 2021 WAC regular-season title and advanced to its eighth consecutive appearance in the WAC Tournament Championship game. The Redhawks finished the season 12-5-2 overall and 10-2-2 in conference play. Sydney Carr, who led the nation in scoring last year, returns to lead the squad.
SCOUTING THE VANDALS: Idaho returns 22 letterwinners, including eight starters, from the Spring 2021 season. After being picked to finish seventh, the Vandals were 5-3 in Big Sky play, earning a spot in the conference tournament after clinching the No. 2 spot in the Northwest Division.
Taylor Brust, who was named to the All-Big Sky Second Team last year, returns to anchor the backline, while
Margo Schoesler is back after earning Honorable Mention accolades after an impressive freshman season. Â
SERIES HISTORY: Seattle U leads the all-time series, 11-2-1. Both of the Vandals wins have come in Seattle. The teams last met in 2019, with the Redhawks taking a 3-0 victory over Idaho. Â
PRESEASON: Tuesday's match at Seattle U will be the first of two exhibition games for the Vandals in 2021. Idaho will return to the Kibbie Dome on Friday, August 13, to host Washington State in a preseason Battle of the Palouse. The regular season begins on Friday, August 20, when the Vandals travel to Fargo to play North Dakota State University. Â
