Women's Swimming and Diving

Swim & Dive Host Seattle Friday

MOSCOW, Idaho - Idaho women's swim and dive (3-2) take on Seattle University (1-2) Friday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. for a conference dual meet at the UI Swim Center.

ABOUT SEATTLE U
Seattle University is taking on its 2022-23 season with new head coach Becky Woodruff. The Redhawks took eighth at the WAC Championships last season, qualifying one swimmer for the National Invitational Championships.

This is the first time both teams have competed against each other since Nov. 6, 2021, when the Vandals won at home 189-72.

IN THE WAC
Idaho has a handful of Vandals sitting in the top 10 for times in the WAC. Senior Kaling Phung and Ani Husaby each have three individual top 10 times. Phung places ninth in the 50 free and 50 back, and eighth in the 100 back, while Husaby is sixth in the 100 fly, eighth in the 50 back and ninth in the 100 back.

LAST TIME OUT
The Vandals are going into this meet looking for a win after a tough 151-149 loss to Northern Colorado a couple of weeks ago. The Vandals fell short by only two points after a well-fought performance. Despite the loss, Idaho managed to come away with five individual wins, including three events in which Idaho earned the top three times.

The Vandals went 1, 2, 3 in the 200 free with Bethany Rahn posting a first-place finish at 1:54.79, followed by Rylie Jones (1:55.43) and Sarah Shaffer (1:55.70). Phung outlasted her teammate Ani Husaby for first place, finishing .19 seconds ahead with a time of 57.56 in the 100 back. In the 200-yard backstroke, senior Morgan Votava clocked in at 2:08.66 to earn first place while Phung followed right behind at 2:08.67. Haylee Buyers rounded out the scorers for Idaho in third with a time of 2:08.87.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Idaho divers travel to Flagstaff, Ariz. next week for the three-day annual Lumberjack Diving Invitational. This meet will be held at the Wall Aquatic Center from Thursday, Nov. 17 through Saturday, Nov. 19.

Idaho swim and dive will return to the UI Swim Center on Dec. 2 for the three-day Vandal Invite.
