MOSCOW, Idaho - The University of Idaho Track & Field/Cross Country program continues to add to it's 2022 recruiting class with the addition of Cash Jones! Cash is a jumper / sprinter from California and ready to join the Vandal jumps squad.
Cash began his high school career in 2019 and competed in the long, high, and triple jumps along with the sprints for Ramona High School in Ramona, California. He earned Most Improved Freshmen at Ramona in 2019 after a great inaugural season. After the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the 2020 season and a extremely short 2021 season of only three meets, Cash exploded this past year as a senior.
Cash set his personal record of 22 feet in the long jump at the Escondido Invitational in April. This jump was over 2 feet further than his previous best and set the tone for his season. In late May at the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF)- San Diego Section Championship Cash set new personal bests in the 100 meters and 200 meters, finishing in 10.92 seconds and 21.98 seconds. His mark in the 200 meters was his first time breaking the 22 second barrier, and qualified him for the CIF State Championships. At the conclusion of his season Cash was named the Most Valuable Sprinter on his team.
"Cash has good speed and is solid in the jumps. He also gets it done in the classroom and will fit in well with the Vandal family." -
Tim Cawley, Director of Track & Field /Cross Country
