MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho's student-athletes,
Boram Jung and
Vivek Ramesh, have been named the Vandal Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month for April. Jung and Ramesh excel in the classroom on top of being student-athletes.
Jung is a sophomore on the women's golf team earning a major in economics and a minor in PGA golf management. The Thailand native boasts a 3.48 GPA overall and earned a 4.0 in the 2022 fall semester.
"Jung is a transfer that has transitioned very well in Idaho and is a great representation of Idaho on and off the field," said Michelle Sass, Senior Academic Coordinator.
Jung chose the PGM program because of her passion for golf. "I love to learn more about swing mechanics and golf technology," said Jung reflecting on her minor. "This program offers many internship opportunities which will allow me to increase my experience in the industry. I chose Economics as a major because I find the classes fun and challenging."
After graduation, Boram plans to become a professional golfer.
Ramesh is a senior on the men's tennis team earning a major in psychology and a minor in pre-health studies. Ramesh has an overall GAP of 3.73 and earned a 4.0 in the 2022 fall semester.
"Ramesh is a very independent worker and ensures his needs are met for graduate school requirements," said Sass.
Ramesh chose psychology because he wanted to stand out in the graduate school applications. "I didn't want to do biology and chemistry like normal medical/dental school applicants," said Ramesh. "I like learning about how people are different emotionally and psychologically, so I chose that path."
After graduation, Ramesh plans on taking a year off to study for the dental exam and gain some shadow experience interning in a dental surgeon's office. After the gap year he plans to attend dental school.
