POCATELLO, Idaho – The Vandal men and women took home sixth at the 2024 Big Sky Cross Country Championship, hosted by Idaho State on Friday.
Sam Fulbright continued to lead the way for the Vandal men, taking home 26th place (25:03.5). Juniors
Miles Ferguson and
Zac Knapp were the next two Vandals to cross the line, with Ferguson in 33rd (25:30.7) and Knapp in 34th (25:32.2).
Shea Mattson was Idaho's fourth runner to pass the tape, completing the race in 37th position (25:40.8). Grad student Lorez Herrmann closed out the scoring for Idaho in 38th (25:41.6).
Leah Holmgren was the first Idaho woman to complete the 5K course, cracking the top twenty at the Big Sky Championship for the first time in her career, with a 19th placed finish (17:53.6). Sophomore
Constanze Paoli was the second Vandal in the top 30, finishing in 28th (18:09.1). Freshmen
Pia Kircher and
Jesse Redding were the next two Vandals to cross the line, finishing 33rd (18:16.8) and 43rd (18:25.8) in their first conference meet. Fellow freshman
Alex Terry was the final runner to score for Idaho, closing it out in 49th (18:36.7).
Northern Arizona took home both the men's and women's titles. This marks the Lumberjacks fourth straight sweep of the conference crowns.
