MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho women's head golf coach
Stephanie Young announced the signing of three Vandals to National Letters of Intent as part of the 2025 Early Signing Day class. The group includes two international players, Diya Brar from India and Kinjung Charnchanayothin from Thailand, as well as Arizona native Lucy Newell, sister of current Vandal
Zoe Newell.
"We are very excited about all our signees for the Class of 2025," Young said. "Lucy, Diya and Inkjung are thrilled to be Vandals and love the campus and Moscow community. They are all tournament tested and team minded individuals who will be tremendous additions to our program. Each of these young women has her sights set on achieving success both on course and in the classroom while also impacting their team in the best ways possible. I am really looking forward to them joining us in the fall. Congratulations, Inkjung, Diya and Lucy! Welcome to the Vandal Family!"
Newell finished fifth at the Arizona State Championship in 2024 and was second at the highly competitive Phoenix City Junior Championship in July.
She has finished in the top 10 in each of the last two years at the Arizona Interscholastic Association High School Championships. She has over 50 tournaments under her belt and has been playing competitive golf since 2016.
Newell is academically and service minded with Key Club and Club Green memberships as well as leadership in national honor society.
Brar hails from Chandigarh, India, but has played competitively in the US. She was the Michigan Girls Junior State Am Champion in 2022 and won the 2024 Ladies Amateur Chandigarh Open. She set a course record at Eagle Crest Golf Course in Michigan with a seven-under 65.
She is a member of the Mehar Baba Charitable Trust and uses her experience with technology to empower women in rural India to achieve computer aided learning.
Charnchanayothin won the Beyond Amateur Championship by TKG and grabbed a pair of titles in Junior Golf Series Central Region tournaments. She finished second at the 2023 FCG International Junior Championship in San Diego and earned the opportunity to play in the BGC Thailand LPGA Masters.
She has played in 28 events that count for WAGR points, dating back to 2021.
The class will join Idaho in the fall of 2025 ahead of the 2025-26 season. The Vandals are in the midst of the winter improvement season and return to action on Feb. 11-12 at the BGSU Women's Intercollegiate at Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona.
