SPOKANE, Washington - Idaho Track and Field concluded its 2024 indoor season this weekend at the Big Sky Championships at The Podium in Spokane, Washington. The Vandal men finished in third place scoring 69 total points and the women finished in fourth place with 64.
Sophomore
Mia Sylvester earned her second career Big Sky title with a win in the women's weight throw on Saturday. Sylvester threw a personal-best 21.00m in her final attempt and stands atop the Idaho record books nearly three meters farther than Aloha Santiago's 2003 mark of 18.67.
Noah Culbertson took home his first Big Sky title throwing 18.05m in the men's shot put. Culbertson's mark is a new personal record and stands at sixth in Idaho history.
In the women's 200m, freshman
Hanna Tait broke the Idaho record finishing fourth at a 24.05 mark.
Camryn Crouch held the previous record of 24.13 from last year's Big Sky Championships. Senior
Olivia Martin earned points for the women finishing in seventh (24.53).
Freshman
Jake Hisaw earned a bronze medal in the men's 200m crossing the tape at 21.37 for third place. Hisaw's mark is the fifth fastest time in the Vandal record books.
Jemini Archer earned a point for the men, running a 21.95 for eighth place.Â
Jurrian Hering took fourth place in the men's 60m hurdles at a 7.90 mark while
Deyondre Davis finished eighth (14.46).
Prabhasha Wickramaarachchi scored points for the women taking seventh with a time of 55.83 in the women's 400m.
Spencer Barrera earned his twelfth Big Sky medal after taking second in the men's 400m with a season-best 47.47.
Three Vandal women scored points in the 60m finals led by Crouch who ran a season-best 7.54 for fourth place. Martin followed in sixth (7.59) and freshman
Jana Willems finished eighth (7.66).
Archer once again earned points for the Vandal men running a 6.86 in the 60m for fifth place.
In the men's 800m,
Zac Bright scored a silver medal crossing the tape at a 1:48.97 mark.
Lorenz Herrmann took fourth at 1:50.66 and
Ethan Sturdivant took eighth (1:56.38).
In the field, sophomore
Joe Reiber and
Joseph Ruddell scored points for the men both jumping 1.97m for seventh and eighth, respectively.
Simone Fedel finished in fourth in the men's triple jump with a season-high 14.54m mark.
For the women,
Tayler LyDay also notched a season-high 11.91m for sixth place in the triple jump.
Ellie Grant came just behind in seventh jumping 11.90m.
The women's 4x400m relay squad of Martin, Crouch, Wickramaarachchi, and
Franziska Stoehr took third at a 3:41.90 mark. It's the second fastest time in Idaho history.
Archer, Herrmann, Barrera, and
Jon Watkins finished in fifth in the men's 4x400m relay with a time of 3:15.46.
The NCAA 2024 Indoor Track and Field Championships will be hosted by Boston College and University of Massachusetts Lowell at The Track at New Balance on Friday, March 8th and Saturday, March 9th in Boston, Massachusetts. Meet participants will be announced Tuesday, February 27th.Â
The outdoor season begins with the Buc Scoring/Combined Events Meet hosted by Whitworth University March 21st and 22nd.
