MOSCOW, Idaho – Katlin Kangur has signed with the Idaho Vandals Women's Basketball Team, Head Coach
Arthur Moreira announced on Saturday.
A 5'7" point guard from Estonia, Kangur joins the Vandals as a true freshman. The incoming floor general, who has been playing professionally in the WBBL which is comprised of professional teams in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, spent this season playing for TSA/CITYTEED Tallinn in Estonia. Her team won the senior league championship on Friday, and Kangur led the entire league in assists with 5.8 per game while also putting up 8.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per contest.
In addition to playing in a high-level league in Europe, Kangur, who also goes by "KK", has been playing on the Estonian senior national team since 2023. As a starter on that team last November, Kangur was part of the historic Estonian side that beat Denmark – a team that featured five former all-conference division one players – for the first time. During her time with the U-18 Estonian team, she was second in the European championships in assists.
MOREIRA'S THOUGHTS
Katlin is the floor general we were missing. Her IQ is very high, and she is an amazing passer. She is a strong guard who uses her body and speed well to create advantages for her on the floor.
She is way more mature and college-ready as a basketball player than a regular freshman, having played against pros since she was 15 and making her senior national team debut at the age of 16.
