MOSCOW, Idaho - After a dominant outing in the final regular season week of the year, Idaho swimmer Ginger Kiefer received the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) nominee for Female Athlete of the Week. 

In the annual two-day dual with Palouse foe Washington State, Kiefer was a standout for the Vandals all weekend long, showing out in front of friends and family on senior day. She was responsible for, or had a hand in, four first place outings for Idaho and tallied a team-high 14 individual points in Pullman. 

In day one of the action on the Cougs' end of the Palouse, Kiefer won the day in the 100 Y IM with a time of 57.29. She took home the bronze in the 400 Y rendition, clocked at 4:23.69, and finished fourth in the 200 Y Backstroke (2:03.02).

On senior day in the UI Swim Center, being honored for her contributions to the university and the community, Kiefer showed even more what made her an all-timer in the Vandal record books. She finished first overall in the 200 Y IM (2:02.09), earned a pair of second-place marks in the 100 Y (54.85) and 200 Y (1:58.86) backstrokes, and led off in the team's best 400 Y Medley Relay (3:45.77) of the day.

Kiefer's honor from the MPSF is the third weekly award secured by the Vandals this season. Kelly Mejorada earned the nod for a record-setting 1M performance in the season opener, and Marie Mason took home the same accolade for setting her first of two school records this year in the 1000 Y Freestyle. This continued a dominant career for the Bend, Oregon native after she earned the WAC Swimmer of the Year and three individual conference titles in Idaho's final year as a member of the conference.

Kiefer, alongside her fellow Vandals, will head to Pharr, TX for the program's first ever MPSF Championships, set to commence on Feb. 25.
