Men’s & Women’s Tennis Celebrate ITA Academic Honors

MOSCOW, Idaho - Each year, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) releases its Scholar Athlete and Team Academic Awards, highlighting the programs and athletes across each division of college tennis who take care of business in the classroom. Celebrating one of the best academic years in each program's history, the Idaho men and women both received ITA All-Academic Team designations while a handful of individuals were named Scholar Athletes as well.

According to the Association, to be eligible as a team, a program must maintain a 3.2 GPA across all varsity letterwinners. For an individual to be eligible for nomination as a Scholar-Athlete, he or she must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 for the academic year. The men's team recently recorded its best team semester GPA in program history, with the roster averaging a 3.82 across the board. All nine Vandals on the roster finished the spring semester with at least a 3.0, while three notched a perfect 4.0. The program also earned the award for best men's team GPA at Idaho Athletics' annual Vandies awards, with their 3.68 mark standing atop all of UI's men's sports.

Along with the team awards from the ITA and Idaho Athletics, the former also selected seven players from the 2025-26 roster as true academic standouts in Division I tennis. Sander Paradis, Mikolaj Lis, Gabriel Moroder, Paul Janson, Xavier Martin Roca, Noe De Col, and Valentin Glasl were each named Scholar Athletes for their contributions to Idaho's academic success throughout the academic year. The Vandal women also received team honors for a strong year in the classroom, as they recently completed a spring semester with a team GPA of 3.65. Seven players earned a 3.0 or better individually, and four of those had 4.0 marks. In the fall, Idaho averaged a 3.68 across the roster, one of the top marks among all of the university's women's programs.

Five Vandals were recognized individually as Scholar-Athletes for their academic achievements and upholding the high standards of the ITA. Hanna Koprowska, Naomi Schraeder, Ida Johansson, Jessica Matthews, and Valentina Rodas all received bids to the prestigious list, cementing their status among the best students in Division I tennis.
