MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho soccer returns to the P1FCU Kibbie Dome for its 2026 home opener on Saturday, hosting CSUN at 6 PM. The Vandals enter the match looking to capitalize on momentum after the dominant road victory against Washington State on Wednesday's regular season opening match.
Wednesday's season-opening win marked the second victory over Washington State in program history. The Vandals had several players on the attack, with goals from Calli Chiarelli, Hallie Prinos-Grumbach, and Alyssa Hamilton, assists from Miranda Goldner, Hamilton, and Prinos-Grumbach, while the defense kept the Cougars off the scoreboard to secure its first clean sheet of the season.
The Black and Gold turn their attention to CSUN, who are eager to bounce back from their season opening 3-0 loss at Boise State Wednesday night.
The Matadors were held to three shots against the Broncos and only one attempt on goal, while BSU outshot CSUN 19-3 and ended the match with a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks. Ariana Lopez-Angel was responsible for two of the team's three attempts and the only player to have an attempt on goal for CSUN.
Defensively, goalkeeper Hayden Mauldin recorded six saves in her first appearance since Oct. 22, 2023. Mauldin's return to the field is much awaited for the Matadors after missing two seasons due to injury. Her effort in the net helped limit further damage as the Broncos placed nine attempts on frame.
Despite the result, Northridge brings an experienced defensive group to Moscow. Sydney Lipkin, Siena Navara, and Alex Valente played the full 90 minutes in Wednesday's opener against Boise State.
Saturday's home-opening match up gives the Vandals and opportunity to carry the momentum following their performance in Pullman on Wednesday. After the road shutout, Idaho looks to build on it's commanding start on the home turf.
Kickoff between Idaho and CSUN is set for 6 PM Saturday.
