Vandal Swimming and Diving to Join Mountain Pacific Sports Federation

Moscow, Idaho - The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) has announced the addition of the Vandals alongside six other institutions in time for the 2025-26 season. Idaho has competed in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) since 2006. The Vandals' prior experience with the league dates back to 1997, when UI Track and Field was a member during the 1997 season in which they took home the conference title.

When asked about the excitement of joining a new conference, head coach Dr. Mark Sowa said:

"In the ever-changing landscape of collegiate athletics, the leadership of the MPSF have proven to be devoted and supportive of the growth and stability of mid-major swimming & diving. With the addition of the remaining WAC teams and the current member institutions we feel that this is a great landing spot for our program for years to come. My thanks to Terry Gawlik and Tim Mooney as well as the commissioners of the MPSF for being proactive in protecting our sport."

Idaho is joining the MPSF alongside new members Cal Baptist, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado,  University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and Utah Tech. This will bolster the conference's swimming and diving membership to eleven schools including returning members Pacific, Pepperdine, San Diego, and Incarnate Word.
