Vandals Close Regular Season at Home with Senior Day

MOSCOW, Idaho - After a busy weekend of back and forth with Washington State, the Idaho Vandals are back at home this Saturday to compete with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and to celebrate the Seniors.

LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, the Vandals fought with the rival just over the border, the WSU Cougars. Day 1 took place in Pullman and the second was hosted in the UI Swim Center by the Vandals. The Vandals fell with a score of 205-57 on the first day and 162-100 on the second.

The weekend was not without memorable moments, as sophomore Ginger Kiefer set three school records. Kiefer broke her own 400-yard IM record (4:17.48), and topped older records in the 200-yard backstroke (1:56.43) and the 100-yard IM (57.27).

Senior Ella Haskins also brought home a win for the Vandals in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.70 while Madelyn Butler rounded out the top-three in the event, clocked at 23.98.

To finish it off, Courtney Crawford finished second overall in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:21.73, and Grace Ruble took home second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.31

SCOUTING UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS RIO GRANDE VALLEY
The Vaqueros travel up from Texas to Idaho this weekend to face the Vandals for the last regular season meet.

This will be the first time the two teams meet in competition, as it is the first season for UTRGV's swim and dive program.

IN THE WAC
Idaho has a handful of swimmers who can find their name towards the top of the WAC rankings.

Kiefer leads the conference in the 100-yard backstroke (54.71), the 200-yard backstroke (1:56.43), and the 400-yard IM (4:17.48).

Haskins is currently placed in the top six in two freestyle events, fourth in the 100-yard (50.44) and sixth in the 50-yard (23.45).

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Haskins, Isabelle Borke, Madelynn Butler, and Grace Ruble swam to the third fastest time of any WAC team, meeting the wall at 3:24.22.
