SARASOTA, Florida - It seems like you can't say enough about the monumental season that Ginger Kiefer had in the 2024-25 slate for Idaho Swimming and Diving.
The sophomore took things to the next level, standing above nearly every competitor, and it was obvious early on that she would be special. In October, she outraced all the competition at the MPSF Open Water Championships, earning her right to stand among the best of the best in the USA Open Water National Championships in Sarasota, FL.Â
The three-day meet consisted of eight races, and Kiefer's event, the 5K championships, commenced early this morning at 8:35 AM EST, while many back home had yet to begin their day at 5:35 AM PST.
At the end of the day, Kiefer proved that she belonged among the nation's best, finishing with a time of 1:10.36 in the 5K championship. Going against swimmers from all over the world, as far as Canada and Japan, the Vandal sophomore proved a lot as she wrapped up her second collegiate season.Â
With so much of her career still in front of her, the sky is the limit for Kiefer. With multiple school records, NCAA cuts, and national berths under her belt in just two years, anything is possible for the Vandal all-star swimmer.
