MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho Vandal women's golf team opens play at the Big Sky Championship Monday at Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona.
The Vandals enter the week as the sixth-ranked team in the field of 10 teams. Sacramento State and NAU are the favorites for the championship, but the Vandals will look to compete at a high level to close out the season.
Laura Caamaño will enter the championship at the No. 1 golfer on the Vandal roster after a seventh-place finish at the Georgia State Invitational and a solid 38th-place finish at the Bobcat Desert Classic.
Freshman
Lucy Newell stepped into the lineup last week and finished at a team-high 26th at the Bobcat Desert Classic. She will be the No. 2 golfer in the Idaho lineup at the championship.
Ella Kozak,
Diya Brar and
Boram Jung round out the lineup for the Vandals and
Zoe Newell is the sub for Idaho who can be put into the lineup at any point.
The tournament is a three-day, 54-hole event. The tournament will be played on the Wigwam Blue course. The course sets up for 5,981 yards at a par 71. Jung will be the first to tee off, beginning at 7:50 a.m. with groups going off every ten minutes afterward.
