Biography

2010 Indoor: Nielson took ninth in the triple jump at the WAC Indoor Championships with a best mark of 37-4 (11.38m). She set an indoor career best with a leap of 38-7.75 (11.78m) in a 12th-place finish and also set a career best of 16-11.5 (5.17m) in the long jump at the Husky Classic.

2010 Outdoor: Nielson scored two points at the WAC Outdoor Championships with a seventh-place finish and career-best a leap of 38-11 (11.86m) in the triple jump. She moved into sixth all-time at Idaho in the triple jump during her freshman season. She also had a career-best jump of 16-3 (4.95m) in the long jump at the Cougar Invitational. She won the triple jump at the Vandal Jamboree with a mark of 38-10.5 (11.85m). She also earned a win at the Duane Hartman Invitational and was the runner-up at the Bryan Clay Invitational in the event.

High School: Nielson was a two-time state champion and eight-time state qualifier for Capital High School. She finished her career as the Idaho 5A state-record holder in the triple jump with a leap of 38-4. As a senior, she took home the triple jump title with a leap of 37-5 and was runner-up in the long jump at 16-11.25. She also took fifth in the 300m hurdles (47.08) and sixth in the 100m hurdles (15.56). She scored 25 of her team's 41 points as the Eagles finished eighth. As a junior in 2008, she produced her state-record leap of 38-4 to win the triple jump, finished fourth in both the 100m hurdles (15.52) and 300m hurdles (46.55), and also took 10th in the high jump (4-10). She scored 20 of CHS's 24 points in the meet as the team finished 11th. While competing for YMCA Team Idaho, Nielson compiled a best score of 4,017 in the heptathlon and earned All-America honors in the event.

Personal: She is the daughter of Peter and Leslie Nielson. She has two sisters, Phoebe and Katie, and one brother, Tycho. She was a Student-Athlete Award for GPA recipient at Capital High School. Her intended major at Idaho is Mechanical Engineering.
