2012 Indoor: Brekke competed in the distance events for
Idaho as a senior … battled injury during the year, but posted a season-best
4:33.12 in the mile run at the Vandal Collegiate on Feb. 18 … finished 33rd in

2011 Cross Country: Brekke placed 33rd at the WAC Championships with a time of 28:02.4 … Idaho’s fifth finisher at 34th at the Inland Northwest Cross Country Classic (19:47.1) … finished 38th at the Sundodger Invitational with a time of 25:46.46 … placed 67th at the Bill Dellinger Invitational (25:58.67) …Fall All-WAC Academic honoree.

2011 Indoor: Brekke redshirted the 2011 indoor season.
2010 Cross Country: Brekke finished 33rd overall at the WAC Championships as Idaho's fifth scorer with a time of 26:34 ... posted best career finish with a seventh-place showing at the season-opening All-Idaho Cup with a time of 26:15.75 and helped Idaho men claim team title ... finished 33rd overall and fourth among Vandals at the Sundodger Invitational in 25:24.54 ... took 51st overall and fourth for Idaho at the Charles Bowles Invitational with a 25:14.36 ... 2010 Outdoor: Brekke earned second-team all-WAC honors for the second year in a row at the WAC Outdoor Championships with a sixth-place finish in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:21.36. He also took 16th in the men's 5000m with a time of 15:38.77. He ran a personal-best 9:19.37 in the steeplechase at the Oregon Relays.
2010 Indoor: Brekke competed in the mile and 3000m events for Idaho in 2010. He produced season bests of 4:29.30 in the mile at the Vandal Collegiate and 9:13.26 in the 3000m at the Runner's Soul Open.
2009 Cross Country: Brekke was Idaho's third finisher at the WAC Cross Country Championships, as he took 32nd on the 8000m course with a time of 28:16.2. He also took 33rd at the Clash of the Inland Northwest, 54th at the Inland Northwest Cross Country Challenge and 56th at the Charles Bowles Invitational.
2008-2009: As a freshman Brekke took 28th at the WAC XC Championships with a time of 27:29.70 and took 158th at the NCAA West Regional Championships.
High School: Alex Brekke performed very well on the track for Bozeman HS throughout his career with the Hawks. A three-time Montana AA All-State honoree in cross country and the 2007 AA State Champion, Brekke led his team to three top-three state finishes and a 2006 state title. As a senior on the track, he led Bozeman to a second-place finish at the Montana AA Track & Field Championships with first-place efforts in the 1,600m (4:24.81) and 3,200m (9:38.69). As a junior, he took third in the 1,600m and as a freshman he took third in the 3,200m and he has earned five career All-State honors in track and field. He was a four-year letterwinner in three different sports at Bozeman: cross country, track and field and swimming. He also has strong academic credentials to go along with his athletic success. He was a 12-time Academic All-State honoree and a member of the National Honor Society.
Personal: He is the son of David and Tracy Brekke. He was born January 9, 1990 at Bozeman, Mont. He has one brother, Tom. His major at Idaho is Geology.
