Biography

2012 Outdoor: Schmidt returned from two tours with the Army in Iraq to compete in his final season at Idaho … earned Second-Team All-WAC honors as the leadoff leg of Idaho’s third-place 4x100m relay that posted a 42.68 at the WAC Outdoor Championships … also ran the second leg of Idaho’s fourth-place 4x400m relay that went 3:19.30 … finished 10th in the 100m (10.97) and 11th in the 200m (22.62) at the WAC Championships.

2010-11: Schmidt served two tours in Iraq with the U.S. Army.

2009: Schmidt helped Idaho claim its first outdoor WAC relay title as the third leg of the team's champion 4x100m relay that posted a time of 40.65 and qualified for the NCAA West Regional ... was unable to compete at the Regional because of commitments to the U.S. Army.

2008: Schmidt ran the sprints for Idaho as a freshman. He finished ninth at the WAC Outdoor Championships in the 100m with a time of 10.94 and qualified for the 200m final with a time of 21.97, but withdrew because of injury.

Personal: He is the son of Gary Schmidt and Colleen Ibarra. He was born June 3, 1989 at Lewiston, Idaho. He has three siblings. He is majoring in Secondary Education at Idaho.
