Hall of Fame
It’s not where you start, it’s where you finish.
Emily Faurholt did not start her collegiate career at the University of Idaho, but by the time all was said and done she left an indelible mark on the Idaho women’s basketball program. What she accomplished in between earned her a spot in the Vandal Athletics Hall of Fame.
Faurholt spent the final three years of her career at Idaho, after transferring from Seattle Pacific. In her first year as a Vandal, she took the Big West and the country by storm.
Faurholt was the NCAA Division I scoring champion as a sophomore in 2003-04, averaging 25.4 points per game. She was named the Big West Conference Player of the Year and earned honorable mention nods on the Associated Press and WBCA All-America teams.
The 5-foot-11 forward again led the Big West in scoring as a junior and a strong senior year in the Western Athletic Conference left Faurholt as Idaho’s all-time leading scorer (1,938 points) after just three seasons. Her scoring mark still ranks second in school history and her career scoring average of 22 points per game remains No. 1 on the list.
When Faurholt left Idaho, she held numerous school records. She is still the all-time leader in minutes played per game (37.9) and free throws made in a season (172; 2003-04). Her single-game scoring record of 39 points, set twice, stood until 2017 when future Hall of Famer Mikayla Ferenz scored 41 points in a game.
A native of Kennewick, Wash., Faurholt led Kennewick High School to a state championship and is still the school’s all-time scoring leader.
