Karen Alsager was a top hitter for the Vandal volleyball team from 1987-90. She was a two-time First Team AVCA All-Northwest Region selection and a two-time First Team All-Big Sky honoree in 1989 and 1990. In 1989, she tied the Idaho school record with 513 kills, then broke the record a year later with 524, a mark that currently ranks fifth. Her 4.75 kills per game in 1989 also is a former school record and now ranks fifth. For her career, she nailed 1,416 kills and had 68 double-figure kill matches, both of which rank fifth at Idaho. Her 126 career service aces rank sixth. She holds three of the top seven single-game offensive performances in school history with 33 kills twice in her career, which formerly were tied as the school record, as well as one 31-kill game. Her 41 block solos in 1990 led the team and also ranks ninth at Idaho all-time.
